What your authorizer can see before you send them anything

Every renewal starts with a desk review, and a desk review starts with public evidence: the school's website, the plans posted on it, the board packets and the audited financials. That material is doing work on your behalf whether or not anyone at the school has looked at it recently.

Most schools have not, and that is not negligence. The public site is maintained by whoever has time, the plans go up when they are approved and then sit there, and the person who would notice a gap is the same person running the school.

So the evidence drifts. A strategic plan from three years ago is still the most recent one posted. An audit is linked but the link is dead. A board minutes page stops in the middle of a school year. None of these are governance failures. All of them read as one to somebody whose only view is the public record.

The useful exercise is to look at your own public footprint the way an outside reviewer would, all at once, without the context you carry in your head. That is hard to do from the inside, because you cannot unknow what you know.
