Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about how our AI-powered system works
How are hallucinations avoided in our system?
Our system uses two key mechanisms to prevent AI hallucinations:
- Grounding in documents: All AI assessments must be completely grounded in the documents themselves. The AI cannot make claims or assessments based on general knowledge or assumptions.
- Evidence extraction: We extract direct quotes from the documents and ask the system to exclusively use those direct quotes as evidence. This ensures every assessment is traceable back to specific text in the source documents.
This approach means our AI acts as a sophisticated document analysis tool rather than generating new knowledge or making unsupported claims.
What AI model/architecture are you using?
The architecture uses Anthropic's Claude models throughout—Claude Sonnet for document extraction and report generation, Claude Haiku for indicator assessment. A proprietary semantic layer provides relevance grounding and source document traceability, specifically engineered for our opinionated educational quality assessment framework.
It's a purpose-built inference pipeline rather than a chatbot configuration. Look for our forthcoming white paper on the technical approach.
How long does it take to get results?
Document processing and analysis typically completes within minutes. Once your documents are uploaded, the system will extract content, analyze it against our quality indicators, and generate your performance report automatically.
What types of documents can I upload?
The system supports common document formats including PDF, Word documents (DOCX), PowerPoint presentations (PPTX), Excel spreadsheets (XLSX), Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Markdown files (MD). Simply upload any school-related documents such as strategic plans, board meeting minutes, curriculum documents, or policy handbooks.
Is my school data secure?
Yes. We take data security seriously:
- Student and staff identities are protected
- Documents are stored securely in Google Cloud Storage
- All data transmissions are encrypted
- Access is restricted to authorized users in your organization
Can I use this for multiple schools?
Yes! The system is designed to support charter management organizations (CMOs) and networks managing multiple campuses. You can track performance across all your schools and compare results.
How were the standards and indicators developed?
The 3 Big Questions, standards and indicators were created by educators for educators. They were informed by input from schools and school oversight authorities AND over 300 in-person school quality reviews conducted in 12+ states over 20+ years.
They were inspired by national and international educational best practices AND many performance frameworks including those of:
- Arizona State Board for Charter Schools
- Idaho Public Charter School Commission
- Louisiana Department of Education
- Missouri Charter Public School Commission
- National Association of Charter School Authorizers
- New Jersey Department of Education
- New Orleans Public Schools
- New York State Education Department
- School District of Philadelphia
- State University of New York
- Tennessee Public Charter School Commission
- Texas Education Agency
- Washington State Charter School Commission
